To kick off the 2014/15 season, we’re going to be running a series of posts we call the “Meet The Rookies” series. As the name implies, we’re going to pose a few quick questions to the players who are new to the club and Vanderbilt this year to help players, coaches, parents, and fans get to know the new club members. First up? Freshman center Chase Jaeger from Larchmont, NY.Â

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m Chase Jaeger from Larchmont, NY. I’ve been playing hockey since I was about 5 and I played AA and AAA travel hockey growing up for my town along with Varsity hockey at Rye Country Day. I’m currently planning on majoring in Economics and History but I also like a lot of other subjects so I’m not positive yet. I’m pumped for the season to start and I’m looking forward to having some great times and winning some games!
This is a tough one but I think it would have to be Slap Shot. How could you not love the Hanson brothers?
Player(s) you’ve modeled your game after/favorite player growing up?
I’ve always loved the way Mark Messier played. He had amazing offensive abilities but also took pride in being a great two-way forward, which I think is really important in a good hockey player.
Best celly you’ve ever seen pulled in a game?
The best celly I’ve seen was when Artem Anisimov did the “Bow and Arrow” after he scored a sick goal on Carey Price.
